LGBTQ+ Liberation Heroes Portrait Series
Stormé Delarverie was a LGBTQ+ activist and drag performer who was known for her drag king act at the Jewel Box Revue (the USA’s first racially integrated drag show). DeLarverie also played a key role in the Stonewall Uprising as, according to many eyewitnesses, she fought back against police violence and yelled to the crowd ‘Why don’t you do something?’ Which spurred others into action and sparked the resulting riots.
