LGBTQ+ Liberation Heroes Portrait Series
Marsha P Johnson was a drag queen and LGBTQ+ rights activist who played an important role in key moments for the LGBTQ+ liberation movement, such as the Stonewall uprising. Marsha and fellow activist and friend, Sylvia Rivera, cofounder STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) an organisation that supported LGBTQ+ homeless people. Marsha became known as ‘The Saint of Christopher Street’ due to her tireless activism for the community.
